Junior Firpo has not played a single minute for Leeds United after picking up an injury in the final game of last term against Tottenham – but Leeds Live say he is in the squad to face Leicester City.

A ligament injury has been keeping the 27-year-old defender out of action until this stage. In the mean time, Sam Byram has thrown his hat on the left-back position after rejoining the club in the summer.

But with Firpo seen in training in the latest LUTV video, the left-back is now back in contention. The defender will have his work cut out in trying to get back into the side though, with Byram in top form.

Certainly, he will not be thrown into the starting line-up against a side that currently sit top of the table, winning 13 of their 14 League games. But, to have the £12.8m man back in the squad strengthens us.

Junior Firpo back in Leeds United squad to face Leicester City

Indeed, Leeds Live named the 23-man squad that will travel to Leicester tonight. Indeed, 20 will be in the matchday squad with nine substitutes now allowed. Firpo is included in that list of Leeds players.

It also includes the likes of Charlie Cresswell, Ian Poveda, Ilia Gruev, Kris Klaesson and other fringe players. Byram, Joe Rodon and Cree Summerville were all injury doubts – but they have been included.

It is a strong-looking Leeds squad. But Leeds are not going to face a tougher test in the League this term, a trip to Leicester – who look destined to run away with things. It all makes for a fantastic contest.
