Leeds United’s summer will look incredibly different if the club are unable to secure promotion back to the Premier League. The future of plenty of current Leeds players could hinge on going up, or not.
Either way, Leeds will have to sort out the future of a number of players currently out on loan. Eight senior members left on loan last summer after relegation. Robin Koch and Luis Sinisterra now permanently gone.
Decisions will have to be made regarding the futures of Brenden Aaronson, Diego Llorente, Marc Roca, Max Wober, Rasmus Kristensen and Jack Harrison. Liam Cooper’s contract hands in the balance, as well.
The likes of Crysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto, Illan Meslier and others may decide they want to move on if Leeds do not go up. Joe Rodon’s permanent move from Tottenham could also be face some doubt.

Then, promotion will also determine the level of player Leeds go after. If the club are promoted, reports claim that Leeds will look to sign Sean Longstaff from Newcastle. His contract is due to expire in 2025.
The reports claim that Leeds need a fee of £15m-£20m to sign him but a move only has a chance if the club are in the Premier League. It would be a surprise, given Longstaff remains a key player for Newcastle.

“He would be more suited to be playing under Daniel Farke. The way that he plays, the way that Daniel likes to play, he would be a fan favourite at Leeds. They love a player who can get around the pitch.
“Gets tackles in and shows some energy. So I think Leeds United would be an absolutely perfect move for him. If they got an offer of around £15-20 million pounds, they would not be averse to letting him go.”

The midfielder is a top talent. Able to play as a more-advanced midfielder, box to box, or deeper in the middle of the park – he is now a proven Premier League player at Newcastle, coming into his prime age.
It is a mystery as to why he has not won an England cap. Harvey Barnes, a player that always seems to core against Leeds, was speaking about Longstaff recently – saying the midfielder is so “underrated”.
Newcastle will be desperate to keep a hold of their academy product- not least because of homegrown rules if the club qualify for Europe. But if Longstaff wants a move where he starts regularly, why not?
