Leeds United are set to be without Ian Poveda for the next three matches after receiving an international call-up for Colombia.
Daniel Farke may have thought internationals were over until March following the third break of the season in November, but that is not the case for Poveda.
The 23-year-old has been named in a Colombia squad to take part in friendlies against Venezuela on December 10, and Mexico on December 16.
Leeds face matches against Blackburn Rovers (a), Sunderland (a) and Coventry City (h) in that period, meaning he will miss all three unless, for whatever reason, he is brought back early.
Thankfully Leeds are well stocked in his position anyway but it was less than two weeks ago at Rotherham United where Farke brought him off the bench due to his performances on the training pitch.
Poveda to get some minutes for Colombia
Poveda is one of only three players currently playing in Europe to be named in the squad, with it effectively being a Colombia B team.
The likes of Luis Diaz, Luis Sinisterra and reported Leeds target Jhon Arias are not in there, with manager Nestor Lorenzo using it as a time to take a look at some fringe players.
The majority of the squad have come from leagues, such as the MLS, where the season is over, with Poveda seemingly having been made available due to his lack of minutes at Leeds recently.
Despite a good pre-season and promising start to life under Farke, Poveda has played just 31 minutes since the second game of the campaign at Birmingham City, in which he started.
He finds himself in the unfortunate position of being behind Crysencio Summerville, Dan James, Willy Gnonto and Jaidon Anthony in the pecking order for a place on the wings under Farke.
