Leeds United are looking to move on some of their fringe players before the end of the window.
Darko Gyabi – who had looked primed for a breakthrough season at Elland Road – spent the first half of the campaign in the U21s, and as such, joined Plymouth Argyle on loan.
Hibernian took a closer look at defender Kris Moore until opting against pursuing a move, and it now appears one of their U21s teammates is set for a loan move of his own.
According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Lewis Bate has agreed a deal to join MK Dons on loan for the rest of the season, in what will be his second loan spell in as many years.
Bate, along with Leo Hjelde, are no longer part of the plans under Daniel Farke and this loan move is likely to bring an end to his time at the club, with his contract set to expire in the summer.
MK Dons a poor move for Bate
Bate spent last season on loan at League One side Oxford United until a broken hand cut short his time at the club, as he returned to Leeds early.
The 21-year-old enjoyed a decent time of it at Oxford and so it is puzzling to see that he has now had to drop down into League Two in order to get another chance to play regular senior football.

Leeds rejected a number of offers for Bate in the summer and so unfortunately, has had several months playing U21s football, which he is clearly too good for and therefore a waste of his development.
As mentioned, it is almost certain that Leeds will not be offering Bate a new deal ahead of the summer, which is another failure in terms of the club’s recent academy recruitment over the years.
Hopefully this move to MK Dons can really help him kick start his career as there is no doubt he has the talent to climb the divisions in the coming years.
