Nohan Kenneh brought his eight-year association with Leeds United to an end 12 months ago by joining Scottish side Hibernian.
However, Kenneh is now set for a reunion with his old side quicker than he may have thought after Shrewsbury Town confirmed his arrival on a season-long-loan on Monday.
That will see Kenneh return to Elland Road in just his second match as a Shrewsbury player with the two sides having been drawn against each other in the EFL Cup.
Leeds will host the League One side on Wednesday 9 August in what will undoubtedly be an emotional occasion for Kenneh given how long he spent progressing through the ranks of the club’s academy.
Kenneh will be hoping the loan switch to Shrewsbury will allow him to really kick start his career, with the permanent move to Hibernian not having yet gone to plan.
Kenneh set for quick Leeds reunion after Shrewsbury move
The 20-year-old will undoubtedly always be remembered for having more yellow cards for the first team than appearances.
Despite having never been handed his senior Leeds debut, Kenneh has a Premier League booking against his name following the Whites’ 3-2 win at Wolves in March 2022.
In what was a feisty affair both on and off the pitch, Leeds came from 2-0 down to earn all three points, sparking wild celebrations which the referee clearly adjudged Kenneh to have crossed the line with.
Kenneh could come up against a number of his former U21s teammates in the cup tie next month, with Joe Gelhardt, Charlie Cresswell and Cody Drameh among several who could be involved.
He will certainly be looking forward to this as one of the biggest games of his career so far.
