Leeds United’s Under-23 side failed to hold onto a 3-0 lead as they suffered a 4-3 defeat to Newcastle United in Premier League 2 on Friday afternoon, but here are three winners from the display against the Toon.
Dani van den Heuvel
Elia Caprile has established himself as first choice in the Under-23 side since joining from Chievo, but the signing of van den Heuvel has applied competition to the Italian. On Friday, Caprile was guilty of an awful mistake.
A long ball was played forward and Caprile dropped it, then conceding a penalty whicb Elliot Anderson scored. Without even playing and remaining an unused substitute, van den Heuvel could now be given a chance next time out.

A stunning performance from the Scotland Under-19 international. Since his £300,000 (News & Star) move from Carlisle, the winger has been in and out of the side with injury the main culprit. But he reminded Leeds fans what he is all about.
Two excellent goals came inside the first half an hour, as he latched on to Joe Gelhardt’s pull back to power home his first. A second came in the form of a Robin van Persie-like header from a Stuart McKinstry cross. An excellent display.
Since joining Leeds in the summer from Fulham, Drameh has been first choice in the absence of Bryce Hosannah – who has joined Bradford on loan. Imperious at the back, his strength and pace has shone through.
Drameh can play at centre-back or right-back and that kind of versatility might just make him Luke Ayling’s long-term replacement. Certainly, if performances continue to improve, he has a chance of doing just that.
