Leeds United suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Leicester City on Monday night as a Youri Tielemans-inspired performance saw Brendan Rodgers’ side ease past Marcelo Bielsa’s men. Here are three Leeds winners, despite the defeat:

Rodrigo influence

Missing the match after being forced to self-isolate, Rodrigo will have been as frustrated as Leeds fans. The Spain international has starred for Leeds since his club-record move from Valencia – despite playing in midfield, instead of attack.

He will also miss the match against Crystal Palace but Rodrigo comes out of the defeat as a winner despite not even playing, and that is because his absence was felt enormously. Leeds lacked creativity without the Spanish ace.

Harrison applauded for work rate

Despite it being a frustrating 90 minutes, Manchester City loanee Jack Harrison impressed in glimpses. Not only was he trying to make things happen with eight cross throughout (WhoScored), his work rate was also impeccable.

One incident saw Jamie Vardy break through, only for the ex-New York City winger to track back and win the ball. It was excellent work rate, commitment and pace from Harrison. Pass marks for the winger, but one of few.

Could’ve been worse, but for Meslier

The £5million (Mail) signing has impressed since joining Leeds permanently. Stunning performances against Sheffield United and Aston Villa has seen Meslier keep clean sheets – and again, he did well against Leicester.

None of the goals were his fault, though arguably he could have prevented Tielemans from netting his second goal with a bigger parry to the side. He made numerous saves and kept possession well – another good performance.
