Ryan Edmondson posts on Instagram after netting Aberdeen brace, Leeds future?

Ryan Edmondson can count himself highly unlikely not to have been given more of a chance at Leeds United, and now it appears that he is starting to show Leeds their mistake at Aberdeen – after Tuesday night’s brace.

Edmondson, 19, scored his first ever senior goals this week during a 4-2 win over Hamilton for Aberdeen. His first came with a neat first-time finish from eight yards, before a second saw the powerhouse drive forward and finish neatly.

The England Under-19 international has only ever been afforded just two senior appearances for Leeds. While Marcelo Bielsa has given game time to numerous young players in his two and a bit seasons at Leeds, Edmondson has missed out.

He has since gone on loan to Aberdeen and impressed – even making a substitute appearance against Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League. He posted on Instagram after netting twice for the Dons, underlining his praise.

But does he have a Leeds future? It is unclear how many years he has left on his contract, but Edmondson simply is not a Bielsa-type striker. More renowned for his aerial ability and strength, Edmondson is not the kind of player that will be seen enabling a press high.

He is not quick. Edmondson finds himself frozen out at Leeds, purely down to the style of the current manager.

Edmondson may return to Leeds – even with plenty of goals for Aberdeen – and find he needs to find another club.
