While Leeds United have enjoyed a really impressive window so far, it does appear that the Whites are not going to go out and land a left-back before the deadline passes.

The left-back position has been a problem for a number of years now. It says everything that Pascal Struijk has been first-choice ahead of Junior Firpo, who is a full-back by trade.

Max Wober can play there. But he was outstanding at centre-back at Brentford at the weekend. So he may not be the answer at left-back either.

Leeds should consider ambitious bid for Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney

With that, a new signing in that position appears inevitable this summer. And one player Leeds should perhaps look at in the hope of producing an ambitious coup is Kieran Tierney.

Tierney’s future at Arsenal is now uncertain. He has been a backup to Oleksandr Zinchenko for much of the season. Meanwhile, there have been times when Mikel Arteta has turned to Takehiro Tomiyasu ahead of the Scotland international.

Journalist James Benge told the House of Champions podcast on Wednesday that there is a growing expectation that Tierney could leave the Emirates this summer.

While they are not actively looking to sell, the Gunners may be open to significant offers for the 25-year-old.

Tierney cost Arsenal £25 million when he arrived from Celtic. So he will certainly not come cheap. And Leeds will need to finish the season strongly to stand any chance of a deal.

But if Tierney wants to leave Arsenal, he will want to go somewhere where he is going to play regularly. So he may be prepared to drop down the division.

He has had problems with injury since joining Arsenal. So he would not tick all boxes. But if he did, there would surely be no chance of him leaving the Gunners.

He is a fantastic left-back whose work-rate is one of his biggest strengths. If there is any chance of him being available, Leeds would be wrong to not ask the question.
