Leeds United suffered a 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night as Raul Jimenez’s shot from the edge of the area trickled into the net, after a deflection from Kalvin Phillips. Here are three talking points from the defeat:

Wonderful Koch ends White despair

Leeds fans were fuming with Brighton on social media in the summer, after Sky Sports reported that the Seagulls had rejected a third offer from Leeds worth £25m. Instead, at around half that price, Robin Koch was signed as a replacement.

White has since returned to Brighton and signed a new deal. It was heartbreaking for Leeds fans, but Koch’s display on Monday against Wolves is the final bit of proof for Leeds fans to finally say they can forget about White.

Roberts unused, window regret?

The Wales international was linked with a move in the summer. The Times claimed Derby wanted the £4million (Mail) signing, but the 21-year-old has since remained at Leeds. He was an unused substitute against Wolves.

Instead, Marcelo Bielsa turned to new signing Raphinha, Pablo Hernandez and Ian Poveda from the bench. So, given that Hernandez is back and Rodrigo is starting ahead of him – should Roberts have considered a loan? Perhaps.

Struijk contract

The 21-year-old rookie continued to show Leeds and the club’s supporters that the club did not need to sign a third new centre-back in the summer – alongside Diego Llorente and Koch. But his contract should now be a concern.

Ending in 2022, he is shining on the Premier League stage and is sure to be turning heads. Leeds need to pen him to a new contract on a longer deal, in order to secure his future at Elland Road. Failure to do so, and he could move on.
