It was only a few days ago that Victor Orta was backing Wilfried Gnonto to be a surprise following his last-ditch move to Leeds United on a deadline day.
There is reason for excitement when it comes to Gnonto. Leeds have done some amazing recruitment when it comes to their youth ranks. And the 18-year-old is already an Italy international, featuring against England earlier this week.

Orta was obviously talking about the events of deadline day when it came to Gnonto being a surprise. But if he was reflecting on the entire window, surely it would be another name who would also get a mention following their summer switch.
Leeds fans would have not seen a lot of Sonny Perkins before his move from West Ham. And they may have not been too optimistic when Hammers supporters backed the young forward for little success following his decision to leave.

But Perkins’ start to life as a Leeds player has been sensational. He went on international duty having scored six goals in five under-21 games.
And he has now found the back of the net four times in two games for England’s under-19s.
Sonny Perkins set to be the real surprise for Leeds?
Ten goals in seven games is an outrageous return given that he has not really played as a striker for Leeds. And it cannot be forgotten that he is in new surroundings.
Perkins is a player who has made his Premier League debut. So clearly, he has a lot of talent and potential.
But few could have foreseen just how well he would start following his move to Leeds.
Already, that deal is looking like a real masterstroke from Orta.
