The latest reports concerning Samuel Saiz would have alarmed Leeds supporters. The Yorkshire Evening Post has suggested that the playmaker is unsettled at Elland Road and looking at a potential return to Spain.

On his day, Saiz is the best player in the Championship. Unfortunately, we have not seen enough of that player this season. And perhaps we now know why.

The report suggests that Saiz has not been happy since the summer. Nevertheless, there will be plenty of disappointment if he does leave in one of the coming windows.

But given Leeds’ transfer policy in the summer, perhaps his desire to go could oddly do Andrea Radrizzani one favour.

Radrizzani previously told BBC Sport that the £10 million sale of Ronaldo Vieira was a sacrifice that needed to be made following the deals to sign Barry Douglas and Patrick Bamford.

Saiz is a player that would surely make Leeds a lot of money if sold. It is a situation Leeds would obviously rather avoid. But Saiz could provide the answer if Radrizzani wants to boost Marcelo Bielsa’s transfer budget.

It is a sale that would have seemed almost ridiculous before the latest reports emerged. But given his unhappiness and what Bielsa could do with the funds from a sale, it is an option that Radrizzani must now keep in the back of his mind.
