Leeds have been boosted by Patrick Bamford’s recent return to the side. The striker marked his comeback with a goal in the defeat at Norwich, and there are now plenty of supporters hoping to see the summer signing start at Middlesbrough this weekend.
There seems every chance that Bamford and Kemar Roofe could both start at the Riverside Stadium. And should that be the case, Marcelo Bielsa has a potential decision to make.
Leeds may need further attacking options on the bench. Tyler Roberts may also feature, but perhaps Ryan Edmondson should also be considered.
Edmondson has not played for the first-team since September. But he continues to impress for the under-23s. And perhaps, he could be Leeds’ wildcard at Boro.
Tony Pulis’ side are going to be dangerous from set-pieces at both ends of the pitch. They have the height to keep opponents at bay when defending and cause real problems in attack.
Leeds do not have the tallest squad. So Edmondson could make a real difference if the Whites are either looking to protect a lead or get back into the game. He could be the curveball that Middlesbrough do not expect, or even want, to see.
Hopefully, Bielsa does not need to consider an inspired substitution this weekend as Bamford and Roofe will do the business. But having Edmondson as an ace up the sleeve could be a smart move.
