Tyler Roberts has posted a video on Instagram after scoring a stupendous effort in Leeds United training – but he was supplied by an unlikely source.

Roberts, 19, has managed just 24 minutes of action since October 20. Kemar Roofe’s return to fitness has seen the former West Brom striker return to the bench.

On Saturday, the Wales international was left out of the squad completely as Leeds dispatched Sheffield United with a 1-0 win. Pablo Hernandez continued his fine form to score a late goal.

But Roberts sent a reminder to manager Marcelo Bielsa with an excellent goal at Thorp Arch. Goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell chipped the ball forward, and Roberts smashed the ball home on the volley.

Roberts’ training goal comes just weeks after Patrick Bamford scored a similar effort. The video of the ex-Chelsea striker’s goal went viral, much because of Bielsa’s reaction.

It remains to be seen if Roberts will be included in Bielsa’s 18-man squad to face QPR on Saturday. But it will be hard for the Argentine boss to ignore goals in training such as this one.
