Samuel Saiz looks set to benefit from Leeds’ defensive issues this weekend. The Spaniard has not started any of the Whites’ last three games after an underwhelming run of form.
But with Kalvin Phillips potentially dropping into defence against Bristol City, Saiz may get the chance to return to the starting lineup.
With Adam Forshaw and Mateusz Klich impressing, Saiz could face another frustrating spell closer to the periphery if he does not impress against the Robins.
Luckily for the magician, he has previous experience of tearing City apart.
In October last year, Saiz bagged a brace as Leeds stormed to a 3-0 win at Ashton Gate. It was a sensational performance from the attacking midfielder as he put us 2-0 up inside 14 minutes.
MORE LEEDS STORIES
At the time, it was something of a shock result. Leeds had lost their previous three, while Bristol City had not been beaten at home before the Whites’ visit.
Interestingly this time around, City are the visitors and go into the game off the back of a three-game losing run. Leeds’ result last year therefore, should act as a warning to Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
They will need to look much more like the side that set the pace in the early stages of the season to ensure they get the win. Saiz looking much more like the Saiz that stole the show at Ashton Gate last year will boost Leeds’ hopes enormously.
