Rio Ferdinand has told his YouTube channel that he believes that Leeds United will be fine this season after their performance against Arsenal on Sunday.
The Whites produced one of their best displays of the campaign at the weekend. Unfortunately, Jesse Marsch’s men came away from the contest against the Premier League leaders with nothing.

Leeds blew Arsenal away in the second-half. Patrick Bamford had a goal disallowed for a foul on Gabriel. He then proceeded to put a penalty wide. And he thought he had won another spot-kick in stoppage-time, only for the decision to be overturned.

Ultimately however, the Gunners were able to hold on for a big three points in the early stages of the title race. Leeds meanwhile, are coming to terms with a sixth game without a win. And they moved a step closer to the bottom three.

The concern is that Leeds’ best performances came against Chelsea and Arsenal. Obviously, that would suggest that the Whites thrive when teams attempt to impose themselves on Marsch’s men. And they are not going to face that every single week.
Ferdinand however, believes that Leeds should have enough to keep themselves in the league should they be able to replicate Sunday’s performance.
“[Arsenal] win a game they maybe shouldn’t. Leeds, I thought, if they continue the way they are, they’ll be alright. They showed a lot of good signs. But you need an element of luck, you need your keeper to play well in those situations as well,” he told his YouTube channel.
When Leeds were promoted, they opened their account with a brilliant performance at Anfield. It was a display which Marcelo Bielsa’s side could be incredibly proud of as they pushed Liverpool all the way.
However, the positives off the back of their 4-3 defeat would have disappeared immediately had they had not been able to beat Fulham in their following game.
And it feels like a very similar situation this time around. Leeds can take so much from the way they pushed Arsenal further than anyone else this term.
However, that will count for nothing if they do not follow that with a positive result against Leicester on Thursday.
