A report from The Sun claims that Leeds United are set to spend £7m this week, on Huddersfield Town midfielder Lewis O’Brien. The Championship midfielder has caught the eye of Marcelo Bielsa over the past 12 months. Leeds getting O’Brien would see them beat Crystal Palace.
O’Brien, 22, has starred for Carlos Corberan’s side over the past two seasons – since joining the club from Bradford City in the summer of 2019. The midfielder has been missing from Huddersfield’s opening two games, failing to make the bench. The last game ended in a 5-1 loss to Fulham.
Leeds to sign O’Brien: Midfielder wants Leeds over Palace
Now, The Sun might have just explained why. They say Leeds are about to table a £7m offer to sign O’Brien this summer. A bid from Victor Orta and Leeds is expected to arrive this week, coming in the next few days. A move to get the Town midfielder would see Leeds beat Palace to his signing.
Of course, Palace recently beat Leeds to the loan addition of Conor Gallagher from Chelsea – the team that beat Palace 3-0 on Saturday. Leeds could do with another addition in the middle of the park, especially if Stuart Dallas plays as a left back. It looks like we will learn more this week.
