Mateusz Klich has shown just how much admiration he has for Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa, by delivering a glowing verdict on the Argentine boss in his Poland press conference.

Klich, 28, has rejuvenated his career at Elland Road under Bielsa. The Polish star was loaned out to FC Utrecht during the second half of last season, but has been rebirthed third time around.

This time around, Klich has scored five goal and created five more in 18 games. His excellent form has been crucial to Leeds’ promotion hunt, as well as gaining his place back in the Poland side.

Full of praise

Quoted by Polish outlet Sport Interia, Klich was full of praise for Bielsa. The former Wolfsburg ace described the manager as “one of a kind”.

“He is one of a kind and I have not seen a coach who would live football like him, the ball completely absorbs him, he even analyses my games in the national squad,” Klich said.

“If he sees that someone wanted to pass well and he lost the ball, he never complains about the risk and even encourages us because he thinks that without risk it is impossible to play football at the highest level.

“The best teams in the world are constantly taking risks, but they make few mistakes. In Germany I had such trainers that I knew that if I made mistake, in the next match I will end up in the stands, that’s why I was playing in a protective way.”

Bielsa has brought possession football to Elland Road, as well as his trademark high-pressing style. It has guided the Whites to third in the Championship table, just three points behind leaders Norwich City.

Klich and the rest of the Poland side take on Czech Republic on Thursday evening in a friendly, before facing Portugal in the UEFA Nations League away from home on Tuesday.
