Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips is clearly loving life on international duty. The England midfielder has played every minute of England’s three group games, and is likely to start against Germany. Now, Phillips has named his dream teammate – and it is Aston Villa star Jack Grealish.
Grealish and Phillips both started against the Czech Republic. The Three Lions secured a 1-0 win, Raheem Sterling scoring a header, to finish the group on top and secure a last 16 tie against Germany. It came after calls for Grealish to start had long been going on since the tournament began.
Whether he starts again on Tuesday against Germany remains to be seen. Grealish is renowned for getting pelters from Leeds fans for his theatrics, and given the recent rivalry between Leeds and Villa. Asked about Grealish, Phillips labelled the £120,000-a-week (Spotrac) star as a “dream teammate”.

“To play with, he is a dream teammate because he gets you out of so many situations when you’re under pressure,” Phillips told TalkSPORT. “The quality he’s got on the ball is scary. When we play against them, it is always a very tough duel between me and him.
“I can remember the last time we played against each other – we didn’t face eachother in 2020-21. In the Championship, we were speaking and was saying Villa were knackered after half an hour. I’m just glad I’m playing with him.”

Grealish, of course, is a target for Manchester City. Sky Sports have claimed this week that the Premier League title winners are preparing a £100million offer to sign the Villa skipper after Euro 2020. Villa, meanwhile, are desperate to keep him at Villa Park – and are in talks over a new deal.
