Leeds United have confirmed that Tyler Roberts has put pen to paper on a new deal until the summer of 2024. The Wales international had been linked with a move to Newcastle United – but instead, has committed his future to Leeds. Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter to Roberts signing a new contract, and many pleased.
Roberts, 22, has endured what has been a bit of a topsy-turvy season. Initially starting the season on the bench, he broke into the Leeds side in attacking midfielder during the second half of the campaign. In the penultimate game of the season, Roberts finally scored his first goal.
Currently with the Wales squad as they continue their preparations for Euro 2020, Roberts has been confirmed as signing a new deal. His previous contract was due to expire at the end of next season – but Andrea Radrizzani has handed him a new deal until June 2024.
What are Leeds fans saying about the new deal for Roberts?
Roberts will be in and around the squad again next season. But with Rodrigo showing his best in the latter stages, and a new signing in midfield likely to occur – the competition is only going to increase for Roberts. He has been linked with a £10million move to Newcastle, as per The Mail.
Leeds fans reacted to the news that Roberts has signed a deal and it seems to have pleased many. The overriding feeling is that Leeds fans appreciated the work rate and improvement of Roberts – and believe he deserves a new contract. Given he is still just 22, he has enormous potential.
