Leeds United have posted a video from a training session ahead of Friday night’s clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers on LUTV and it includes a brief appearance from previously injured Diego Llorente – while also showing clips of Gaetano Berardi joining his teammates in team training.
Berardi, 32, has finally overcome an ACL injury that has kept him sidelined for the best part of 12 months. Leeds posted a video of the one-time Switzerland international running outside on his knee, and it is expected that the former Sampdoria defender will feature in some under-23 matches before Marcelo Bielsa considers him available for selection.
But to see Berardi back in Leeds training is a brilliant sight, and he looks in good condition – speaking with a smile on his face alongside Gjanni Alioski. Seeing the versatile defender was not the only returning injured player to feature in the video, with Llorente making a brief appearance, too. The Spaniard has not been see since suffering a hamstring injury against Newcastle.
Llorente has had some awful luck. Injured immediately after signing for Leeds while on international duty, it took him a couple of months to overcome a groin problem. Coming on to make his debut against Chelsea for Robin Koch, he finished the match but picked up another issue. Recovering from that, Llorente started against Newcastle but after 10 minutes, he was replaced – his hamstring now the issue.
Bielsa has spoke about his concern for Llorente’s mental wellbeing given the numerous amount of injuries – but the Spaniard could now be set to return, after being spotted in the Leeds video alongside Bamford.
