Jesse Marsch has suggested in his press conference that Luis Sinisterra could be in the Leeds United squad for their FA Cup replay with Cardiff City, suggesting that the Colombian looked fantastic in training ahead of the game.

It has been a frustrating first season at Elland Road for Sinisterra. He has not played since the 3-2 loss to Fulham towards the end of October.

The World Cup almost did Leeds a favour as it limited the games the 23-year-old would miss as he wore a protective boot for some time after the loss.

Marsch issues positive update on Luis Sinisterra

He is yet to return to the squad since the domestic campaign resumed. But it appears that he may be back after almost three months on Wednesday.

Leeds face Cardiff for a place in the fourth round. Of course, the Whites barely managed to secure a replay last time out. And they will be desperate to get a win ahead of some crucial Premier League games.

The good news is that Marsch has suggested that Sinisterra is fit and ready to go.

“Luis Sinisterra trained yesterday and he has the potential to be in the squad. So we’ll evaluate that today and see what the possibilities are. But he looked fantastic and we’re excited to have him back,” he told his press conference.

Sinisterra’s return to the fold is exactly what Leeds need. Only two players in the entire squad have scored more goals in the Premier League than Sinisterra. And one of those, Crysencio Summerville, is currently sidelined with injury.

The winger has also only made six starts in the top-flight. So you get the sense that there is so much more to come from the former Feyenoord man.

Marsch will be wary of rushing Sinisterra back. As much as Wednesday feels like a must-win, it is fair to say that there are much more significant games ahead for Leeds.

But having him back on the pitch will provide the Whites with a massive lift. And it would be huge if he can build on the glimpses he showed before being sidelined.
