Kalvin Phillips came on as a substitute to help England secure a crucial 2-1 win over Belgium on Sunday evening in the UEFA Nations League clash, and the Leeds United midfielder has been applauded by plenty on Instagram.
Phillips, 24, earned his third cap as he came on to the field of play with about 25 minutes left to play. It follows his near-perfect outing against Wales in which he lasted the entire 90 minutes, as Gareth Southgate’s side earned a 3-0 win.
Despite facing the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne, Youri Tielemans and more of Roberto Martinez’s star-studded squad, Phillips impressed once again in an England shirt. It saw the Three Lions hold onto a crucial 2-1 win.
Goals from Marcus Rashford and Mason Mount cancelled out Lukaku’s penalty – while Phillips kept up an impressive run that has seen England yet to concede while he is on the pitch. He posted on Instagram after the win.
Phillips and the rest of the England side will now be preparing to face Denmark on Wednesday as they look to secure three points and take a huge leap towards winning Tier A’s Nations League Group 2.
The Leeds star has been afforded plenty of praise over the past few days and that did not stop, as Barry Douglas, Luke Ayling and Leif Davis responded. Ben White commented some heart emojis, while Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson also reacted.
