Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards claims Newcastle United have “a lot of love” for Leeds United star Jack Harrison. The Toon are set to focus on attacking additions as they close in on a deal for Lille defender Sven Botman.
Botman, 22, has arrived on Tyneside to undergo a medical after Newcastle and Lille finally found a breakthrough in negotiations to sign the Frenchman. A deal is likely to cost a substantial amount of their budget.
Meanwhile, Raphinha is likely to go this summer – with Arsenal likely to bid again for the Brazilian. Kalvin Phillips is on the verge of completing a move to Premier League champions Manchester City this week, to replace Fernandinho.
A third high-profile exit could also be on the cards, after Raphinha and Phillips. Harrison, 25, found the back of the net 10 times last season and has earned rave reviews with Leeds, since promotion to the Premier League.
Telegraph journalist Edwards says that there is ‘a lot of love’ for Harrison at Newcastle. He claims the Toon are to turn their attention towards their attacking resources. Harrison looks like a priority for Eddie Howe’s men.
Newcastle have ‘a lot of love’ for Leeds star Harrison
If Leeds do wave goodbye to Phillips, they are under less pressure to sell Raphinha. If they then sell Raphinha, they are under even less pressure to cash in on Harrison. But he is about to enter the last two years of his deal.
It will be interesting to see if Harrison is open to a new deal in the coming months. But right now, Leeds are in a good position and will expect full whack if they are to sell. What is that price? Perhaps, north of £25million.
But our guess, is as good as any. What is clear, is that Leeds will make a healthy profit – if Harrison is sold – on the £11million it cost Andrea Radrizzani to make his move from Manchester City last summer.
