Leeds Live reporter Beren Cross has told Leeds United fans that Adam Forshaw has been involved in first-team pre-season training. The midfielder is approaching two years since he last played in a senior, competitive match. But his injury nightmare could be coming to an end.
Forshaw, who turns 30 in October, last played a competitive match during a 1-0 defeat to Charlton back in September 2019. Since then, Leeds have gained promotion to the Premier League – and then stayed afloat with an excellent ninth-placed finish. Forshaw’s future is in doubt.
The ex-Middlesbrough and Brentford man is in the final year of his contract at Leeds. Having made a brief return for the 23’s towards the end of last season, he suffered a hamstring tweak and that was that. But pre-season is now fully underway and Cross has responded when asked about Forshaw.
What has Cross said about Leeds midfielder Forshaw?
The Leeds reporter tells supporters that he himself has been informed that Forshaw has taken part in pre-season training. Of course, Marcelo Bielsa has stated in the past how well Forshaw keeps himself in shape – which will allow him to return from his hip injury sooner. Here is what Cross said.
“As of yesterday I was told he had been involved in training, which is a great sign. We will obviously learn a lot more when we see the squads Bielsa puts out in the friendlies next week,” Cross replied to a Leeds fan during a Q&A session on the Leeds Live website.
