Jamie Redknapp has told Sky Sports (broadcast on 13/11; 19:15) that he is a big fan of Brenden Aaronson, suggesting that the Leeds United star is one player England are going to have to be wary of at the World Cup this winter.

Of course, Aaronson is one player who will be hoping to shine in Qatar. The 22-year-old has been included in the USMNT squad for the tournament.

He goes into the competition off the back of a bright start to life with Leeds. Aaronson has arguably been Leeds’ most exciting player over the course of the campaign, impressing against the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool in particular.

He will however, hope to upset a few Leeds supporters in the coming weeks. USA meet England in the group-stages of the World Cup. And they will certainly fancy their chances of surprising Gareth Southgate’s men.

Redknapp believes that he has the potential to cause England plenty of problems.

“Yeah I like him, very good technically. He’s a player we’re going to have to keep an eye on, defensively. He gets in pockets, picks the ball up, slides people in. He’s going to be a danger. They’re going to have great energy, the US,” he told Sky Sports.

Aaronson has definitely proved to be a very good signing for Leeds so far. Perhaps he could have contributed more goals and assists in the Premier League.

But it is probably fair to say that no player in Jesse Marsch’s squad is capable of asking more questions than Aaronson. He is such a tricky player with bundles of energy.

We saw in the win at Liverpool that the Reds could not handle or contain him. And it will be very interesting to see how he fares up against more of the world’s best players ahead of a crucial second-half of the season for Leeds.
