Leeds United are reportedly eyeing in-form Alaves winger Ibai Gomez, and he would be the perfect January signing.

According to Goal, the 28-year-old is wanted by Leeds with Marcelo Bielsa interested in his former player. The Argentine coached Gomez at Athletic Bilbao.

Now, Leeds want a reunion between Bielsa and Gomez ahead of the January window, as they look to strengthen their squad to maintain a promotion push.

Leeds have plenty of options out wide. Pablo Hernandez, Stuart Dallas, Jack Clarke, Gjanni Alioski and Jack Harrison are all available to Bielsa.

But Gomez would be an excellent signing for multiple reasons. The former Bilbao ace already has three goals in La Liga this season, with Alaves sitting in third.

Besides that, 173 appearances in La Liga proves Gomez has plenty of experience in the top flight. In that time,  he has scored 28 goals and created 25 strikes.

A well-established La Liga winger, Gomez is out of contract at the end of the season. He is available on a free, and even a pre-contract agreement from January 1 because of the Bosman ruling.

Therefore, Gomez is a top-class winger and Leeds must sign the Spanish star, especially because he can join on the cheap.
