Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta brought Jack Harrison to Leeds United on loan from Manchester City in the summer of 2018. He started inconsistently, showing glimpses of magic. But the lightweight England Under-21 international was poor to begin with. That summer, he got in the gym.
Then, rejoining Leeds on loan for a second successive season, Harrison returned looking like Gareth Bale. Not only had he grown a ponytail, but the former New York City man came back looking bulkier. He looked stronger and it dramatically improved his form between 2018-19, and 2019-20.
He scored just four goals and laid on four assists in 42 games in 18/19. In 19/20, he scored six and created eight in 49 and had Patrick Bamford been more prolific, he would have had a lot more. Promotion did not deter him, producing 16 goal involvements in 36 Premier League games.
The summer of 2019 proved crucial for Harrison. It has taken him from a mediocre player, into one that was even being talked about for England towards the end of last season. Perhaps, then, he has given some advice to Tyler Roberts – after the Wales international posted on Instagram.
Has Roberts sought advice from Harrison to boost Leeds fortunes?
Currently with Wales at Euro 2020, Roberts posted an image from training with Rob Page’s side. It is fair to say that Roberts is looking like he has been in the gym, weeks after scoring his first goal in the Premier League in a 2-0 victory over Southampton. £4m (Mail) signing Roberts has bulked up.
Certainly, the reaction to that post in the comments saw Leeds fans surprised to see Roberts looking the way he does. He struggled at times in 2020-21, coming in and out of the side and it might be a case of Harrison passing on some advice. Roberts might be doing just what Leeds teammate Harrison did.
