Leeds returned to the top of the Championship with a stunning win against Aston Villa on Sunday. The second-half comeback has made the rest of the division sit up and take notice if they were not already alerted.

Marcelo Bielsa will not be getting carried away. He somehow managed to keep his emotions in check as Kemar Roofe volleyed home the winner, as if he was already thinking about how the superb performance could have been better.

And unfortunately, one player that he may not be entirely happy with is Bailey Peacock-Farrell. The goalkeeper made a couple of excellent stops, but should have arguably done better for Villa’s second goal.

He is still learning, and it would unfair to criticise his performance too strongly. But his display perhaps highlighted how important it is that Leeds sign Karl Darlow in January.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported this month that Leeds want the Newcastle stopper. His experience would make him an extremely smart addition who would take some of the pressure off Peacock-Farrell.

The Whites youngster is not far away from being a very good goalkeeper. On some days, he already looks like a player that is Premier League-bound.

But the win against Villa seemed to provide a reminder that not signing a goalkeeper in January could be a risk.
