Leeds United’s 5-1 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday afternoon is a sign for many fans, that more money needs to be spent. Now, new reports have seen Leeds suffer a double blow in regards to signing Hertha Berlin’s Brazilian ace Matheus Cunha, and Uruguay international Nahitan Nandez.
Of the £30million Leeds have spent this summer, half has gone on Jack Harrison. Kristoffer Klaesson has replaced Kiko Casilla, costing just £1.6million. The rest saw Leeds buy Junior Firpo – meaning the only new face in the starting line-up is the latter.
New signings are needed judging by Saturday’s display, but any Leeds moves for Nandez or Cunha now seem unlikely – amid the latest reports:
Atletico Madrid move to sign Cunha
Atletico Madrid have already beaten Leeds to the signature of Rodrigo De Paul – a player that was Tweeting about a Leeds move. Now, they could pip Leeds again. As Dusan Vlahovic proves too expensive – Sky Sports reporter Matteo Moretto says Atletico are in talks for Cunha.
His Tweet says: “Atletico Madrid get a little tired of waiting for Dusan Vlahovic. They are now in talks for Brazil’s Matheus Cunha.”

Tottenham in Nandez talks
Leeds continue to look at Nandez. Reliable Leeds sources – the Phil Hays, the Graham Smyths of the world – have not said anything. But multiple Italian outlets say Leeds want him. We at LUN even spoke to a Argentine, Leeds-supporting expert who race about Nandez.
But transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reckons Tottenham are in talks for Nandez – though nothing is close to completion.
