The appointment of Marcelo Bielsa is going as well as could be reasonably expected to at this early stage of the season.
Leeds sit atop the Championship and optimism is rightly building among the fans. Yet, Stuart Dallas has claimed that the players aren’t even talking about the prospect of being promoted.
That is exactly the right attitude; it is a long, long season and it would be foolish for Leeds to get ahead of themselves.
The Whites were riding high last season under Thomas Christiansen before the club entered a tailspin that they were unable to get out of until Bielsa arrived this summer.
Of course, the other issue is that the fans are so desperate for promotion that is naturally comes with a fear that it might never happen.
Leeds are desperate to ensure that they don’t fall apart again; and a key part of that is not getting ahead of themselves. That helps to keep the intensity high and stop the jitters kicking in.

What did he say?

Speaking as he prepares to face his old club Brentford tomorrow, Dallas said: “We don’t talk about [promotion]. “We’re not even at Christmas time so we don’t, I’d be lying to you if I said we did, we don’t talk about it.
“Everybody knows that in the Championship if you take your eye off the ball all of a sudden you can be five or six points outside the play-offs.
“We’ve just got to keep working hard every day, keep listening and learning and keep moving forward. We’ll take it one game at a time and next is obviously Brentford.”
