Leeds United produced an excellent performance to make it two wins on the bounce on Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 win over Paul Heckingbottom’s Sheffield United – the man who was replaced in the Elland Road dugout by Marcelo Bielsa. Jack Harrison was the game changer, scoring and then creating the winner – after Ben Osborn had equalised.
Harrison opened the scoring with a tap-in, his seventh of the season, after Tyler Roberts played in Raphinha who impeccably found Harrison to net. Following Osborn’s header, Harrison burst down the left and was picked out with a delightful pass from Roberts – and his low cross was turned in by Phil Jagielka. Below, is the best of Instagram after the win.
KP gets praise as momentum grows
Kalvin Phillips enjoyed an excellent international break. He picked up three caps, taking his total now to seven for England – starting all three games against San Marino, Albania and Poland. Though there was some criticism, the majority was positive as England recorded three wins and he followed that up with a stunning performance against the Blades – earning praise from Diego Llorente and Liam Cooper.
Kemar Roofe react to photo
Harrison posted the above picture, which was taken after the ex-New York City star put Leeds ahead in the first half. The 24-year-old’s seventh goal, as and 12th goal involvement of the season was a huge helping hand in taking Leeds level on points with tenth-placed Arsenal – but Rangers ace and ex-Leeds man Kemar Roofe was more interested with the photo, teasing Kalvin Phillips and his “breath”.
Tony Dorigo, now a regular at Leeds matchdays on co-comms for LUTV, gave his verdict as he watched Leeds go three games unbeaten and pick up a third win in their last six. The ex-Leeds man, though, believes the scoreline was flattering to Sheffield United and that the biggest culprit was ourselves. Man City, Liverpool and Man United up next.
