Leeds United’s Under-23 side earned a comfortable 2-0 win over Norwich City in Premier League 2 on Sunday after the Whites fielded an incredibly strong side – including the likes of Pablo Hernandez, Raphinha and Tyler Roberts.

Wales international Roberts starred throughout as he laid on both assists for new £18million signing Raphinha net, as well as much-liked winger Ian Poveda. Here are three winners from the 2-0 win over the Canaries.

Raphinha making early impression

Yes, Raphinha is far above reserve-team football but his cameo role against Aston Villa was excellent – and then his goal against Norwich on Sunday was also very good. Running through, he remained composed to tuck the ball into the net.

Having qualified for the Champions League last season with Rennes, Raphinha could have been forgiven for sulking and playing in the reserves. But the Brazilian’s first impressions are certainly catching the eye.

Alfie McCalmont was considered the back-up for Kalvin Phillips at one point but his momentum has gone sideways, somewhat. Now, he has gone on loan – while 18-year-old Jack Jenkins is absolutely shining in the Northern Irishman’s place.

Despite playing alongside Hernandez, Roberts, Poveda, Raphinha and other first-team players, Jenkins did not look out of place. He kept the ball well, kept things simple, but was willing to put the boot in when needed. A great performance.

Roberts gives Bielsa a reminder

The £4million (Mail) signing has remained an unused substitute for Leeds during the past two Premier League outings. So Sunday’s game was important for Roberts to remind Bielsa that he is worth considering.

He did just that. Starting in attacking midfield, Roberts chipped the ball over the Poveda to score the first, and then found Raphinha perfectly for the Brazilian to score. It was a classy performance from the ex-Baggies ace.
