Predicting Leeds' opening six results next season: Two wins

Leeds United have another Premier League season to look forward to after the dramatic end to the previous campaign.

And our reward is a fairly reasonable start to the new year. We should certainly be hoping that we got off to a decent start and are not waiting some time for our first win.

But how many points should we realistically be targeting? We have taken a look at each of the fixtures, and made – potentially ambitious – score predictions for the games ahead…

Leeds 1-0 Wolves

Ten years ago, we opened the league season with a 1-0 win over Wolves. Bruno Lage’s men did not beat us last season. And Wolves fans will be wary of Lage being worked out in his second season. So off to a flyer.

Southampton 1-1 Leeds

Leeds need to finish above Southampton next year. On paper, the Saints look set to struggle depending on what signings they bring in. But they do have some very good players. And Leeds were awful on the south coast last year.

Leeds 0-2 Chelsea

Chelsea will make some big signings before the season arrives. And they played us off the park towards the end of this past season. Leeds’ unbeaten start may come to an end in this game.

Brighton 1-1 Leeds

We never play well at Brighton. But the Seagulls love a draw, and both of our games ended in a stalemate last season.

Leeds 2-1 Everton

Like Southampton, Everton are a team Leeds need to finish above if they are going to avoid danger. The Toffees may not be able to do a lot in the market unless big players are moved on. This is a fantastic opportunity and may pile the pressure on Frank Lampard.

Brentford 0-0 Leeds

Brentford will be out for revenge after Leeds won on the final day and delayed their players’ lap of honour. But the Whites should be tougher to beat and could leave with another reasonable result.

Nine points, it is then.
